The Office of Montgomery County Councilmember Nancy Navarro seeks a highly organized and enthusiastic intern to assist the office in carrying out its legislative and communications strategy. The intern will work closely with and be an integral part of the core office staff. The intern will be primarily tasked with administrative and communications work, constituent services, and organizing and/or attending community events.
The intern must be technologically-savvy, proficient in latest social networking technologies, and have strong verbal and written communications skills.
Work schedule is flexible, however a commitment of 15 to 20 hours a week is required.
Preferred skills: Spanish/English bilingual.
About Councilmember Navarro
Councilmember Navarro represents District 4 on the Montgomery County Council. She was elected in a special election on May 19, 2009 and re-elected on November 4, 2010. Since December 2010, she has chaired the Government Operations and Fiscal Policy (GO) Committee and serves on the Health and Human Services (HHS) Committee. Prior to her election to the Council, Ms. Navarro served on the Montgomery County Board of Education, where she was twice elected President (2006 and 2008).
District 4 includes all or parts of Aspen Hill, Burtonsville, Calverton, Cloverly, Colesville, Derwood, Fairland, Olney, Sandy Spring, Silver Spring, Spencerville, Wheaton and White Oak.
